OZ Day 4
Wednesday, October 14, 2015It has been a hectic these last few weeks as I have started my first job! *happyjumps*
Currently in my second week and due to the change in lifestyle, my body has to adapt to the changes. So, once I come back from office , the last thing I would want to do is to be on my computer and the only thing I did was slouch on the couch, resting my legs on the table and watch tv. =D
That's my way of rewinding. Oh my leg was so happy after that.
And so, no more updates after day 3. lol.
Since it's a holiday today, I decided to continue my throwback on my journey in Aussie. Can't believe how fast time flies. Well, I keep telling myself that I should blog them down because I didn't have the energy to write them in my journal. =(
So,here goes Day 4
Some pretty houses along the path in Boxhill |
We are exploring the City of Melbourne today! So we left the house in Boxhill, took a bus to Boxhill Central and left to the city towards Flinders Street station by train. It was a freezing cold day with strong wind, and I was wearing a dress ! =D great.
Went to Flinders street by train. Can you see the scratches on the window? |
The iconic clocks at Flinders Street which shows the time from different countries. |
The stranger who invited himself to photobomb my picture. |
We crossed the busy road and head toward the next iconic building in that area.
You can't miss it!
This is the St. Paul's Cathedral, beaming in it's Gothic architecture in the light. This is an Anglican Cathedral where the first public Christian service was held in 1835.
The stained glass door that tells a story |
The interior of the cathedral. Can't imagine the sweat and tears gone to build this amazing architecture. |
Trying to be cute in front of a cathedral. lol |
We have lunch date with my aunt and uncle at Crown Casino. We didn't know the exact location so got to get some directions. There were some ladies in red t-shirt who are actually volunteers and their job is to help people to get to their destination. So we asked them and they were so friendly to show us the exact location with this map.
we are going to the 'X' (can you see it? ) |
Walking along Yarra Banks. |
on Princess Bridge. use this to cross over to the other side.
We head to 'Kitchen Workshop' which was located inside the casino after meeting our relatives. I heard from my aunt that there's this lady who gives out vouchers for lunch buffets for only $7 per person! So she quickly got hold of the vouchers and yeah, we got to enjoy a $7 buffet! Ddin't know good deals like this still existed. =,D
we have to go through security checks to see if we were under age. yay to asian genes!
And to get to 'Kitchen Workshop' you have to walk through the slot machines, poker tables and people who are too free...so they gamble off their money. hmm.
For such a price, there's nothing much you can complain about. They have an extensive array of food from different cultures. There's Chinese dumplings, Beef ham, Chinese style dishes, capati, briyani rice, lamb stew and so much more.
Desserts are what I always looked for in any buffet. After filling my stomach, there's always space for desserts! From ice creams to different varieties of pretty little cakes to make my day feel so good. =)
this is my tummy filled happy face. |
We left after lunch with a satisfied tummy and now, we got to make our legs move. Me and sis decided to continue with our city exploration.
they have bikes for rent. If I remember accurately, its $2 per hour. Besides, with such a big city, there's just too many places that you could not cover with foot. This is a great idea! |
The iconic look-like-Eiffel Tower-tower.
walked to the NGV
Australia is famous for its arts and I took this inside the NGV. I am attracted to its geometrical shapes and the colors it shined when light shines through.
Taking this picture because the food made me hungry after a short walk =p
Looked so yummy!
the only exercise you wanna do here: walking!
So we walked to the end of Swanston street to get to Victoria State Library. This place attracts not only students but tourist!
Even before going in, I am so loving the architecture and design of this Victorian era building.
=)
The interior of the library which looks like it comes from Hogwarts. =p
The library has few level and sections. Once you enter, there is a more modern-looking study area. There's computer area where students can use their services, area for you to read newspapers or magazines and a big gallery where they placed paintings of Victoria's early days.
To see this room, we head to the LaTrobe reading room. =)
Ah..I really don't mind studying and burning midnight oil here.
these birds are everywhere!
this gave me a little goosebumps.
Melbourne city at night
We explored the place until late evening until we it's time to meet up with my relatives again for dinner. So we met under the clocks in Flinders Street and walked through Federation Square towards our restaurant which is located along the banks of Yarra River.
Riverland is located under Princess Bridge and Federation Wharf.
It has an open air seating and so we sat in the cold windy air. thank God they have a outdoor burning heater to warm us up.

Warm apple cider. The first time I have ever heard and tasted a warm cider.
Bread with dips
Fried calamari
Special Riverland burger
Roast chicken
Overall, we enjoyed the food that was served. Their portion was, again, very big and this is my second burger in a week. lol. I feel so guilty adding on those calories but determined to go home and burn those burgers off.
Loving the location. You could see the reflection of the city on the river while enjoying your warm meals. Perfect on a cold night. =)
Since we are in the city, we decided to go for second round. I didn't know where my aunt was bringing us, but .... *jeng jeng jeng*
The rooftop bar in Rialto Hotel.
It is located on the 56th floor of the hotel
The only non-alcoholic beverage we ordered.
It is actually santan with a twist of sourish and saltish taste to it.
Quite an enjoyable drink.
Cheers!
From the rooftop, there is an open air balcony to catch the beautiful night view of the city.
It is actually so amazing to know how it all looked so small here. Feels like I have conquered the city!
And so, after a long day, we took the tram back home. It's freezing outside and it's so nice to get some warmth back to my feet, and snuggle under the bed.
and enjoy my dream after those alcoholic drinks.
=)
xoxo
